Parts FAQs

I need a variation of one of the parts you sell, is this possible?

We can tailor all products to your needs, the options are almost endless so please contact us to let us know what you require, and we will get a quote back to you.

What is a metal shim used for?

Shims are used to adjust clearances, tolerances and alignments, or as spacers to fill gaps between parts that are subject to wear. Metal shims are often used in engineering and industry to refine and adjust for better fit or to provide support.

Do you hold all materials in stock?

We hold the majority of materials that we offer on site for quick processing and delivery of orders. Most others are available within the same lead time, although a few special finishes may require additional lead time.

What can I expect my finished items to be like?

Care is taken when laser cutting and processing the parts, so they will be as scratch free as possible, however we do not offer any secondary operations or finishing processes.

We can order stainless and aluminium between the thicknesses of 0.9mm and 3mm with a protective plastic coating which is specifically designed for fibre laser cutting. This will help keep the A face of the product scratch free and will give some protection during the fabrication process.

Will my items arrive polished and finished?

We do not offer any secondary processes, so your components will be sent to you as they come off the laser. Care is taken when processing the parts, so they will be as scratch free as possible, but if you need a bit more reassurance, some of our grades of aluminium and stainless can be ordered with protective film on.

What material do I need?

We can’t provide design advice on what material is best suited to your application. You can view all the different materials that we offer and their properties so that you can source the correct product for your application.

Can you send me a sample?

Samples of materials are not available due to the cost of producing them. If you need something specific for a sign off then please contact us.

How accurate are the parts?

All parts are produced to a +-0.25mm tolerance. This for all dimensions, i.e a 100mm x 100mm part with a 10mm hole could be 99.9 x 100.15 mm with a 9.84 mm hole.

Can I get a material test certificate for my order?

Yes, if required we can provide material test certificates for applicable materials. We offer full traceability on every part and every order as standard.
